Illustration Process

V_letter1 V_letter2So, as I am waiting for feedback on various projects, I thought it would be fun to do some illustrated typography. I am working on the word VEGETABLE. A few people have emailed me recently about my process, which I often describe as mixed media because I use quite a few methods to create final artwork.

Above is a very brief run-through of one way I enjoy making pictures!  I start with a sketch, in this case a very rough one on notepaper, using a ball point pen! I then split the image up (in my head) and create individual elements. I love making rubber stamps because the lines you create are so interesting and varied. However, I also love the super clean lines that digital programmes create – so I mix them up. I then scan all the individual elements and put them back together in photoshop. I suppose the final work is a digital collage of sorts!
